There was a time when the Avon lady would come to the door and drop off the latest catalogue for you to browse over with a cup of tea. She would return a week or so later to take your order form and you would eagerly await your delivery thereafter… how times have changed!
A new era has dawned via social media selling known as multi-level marketing (MLM).
I recently caught up with Morag who owns an Arbonne business to discuss the benefits of working for a MLM company and how it can work alongside your current vocation as a second income stream especially through these challenging times.
Morag, can you tell us a little more about your background and how you started with Arbonne?
I have been self-employed the majority of my working life and until recently I had a traditional high street shop with all the outlays that you incur.
I loved certain elements of my clothing retail business, especially the interaction with customers, however it became apparent the business was running me and not the other way round. I knew I needed a Plan B, so when a much-respected business woman and friend from the 80’s approached me regarding the Arbonne opportunity in Health & Wellness I listened with an open mind.
I have always used good quality skincare products and within 24hrs of using Arbonne’s signature range my skin felt incredible, so I jumped straight into the business.
I understood the simplicity of the business model where we use the products and then recommend them to others as well as sharing the business information. I always wanted to have a global business, thus benefiting from the different seasons, school holidays and trends (without the corporate headaches).
I know I have so much to offer others in terms of my experience and I am certainly not ready to hang up my working hat. I find this business keeps my mind active along with the fun it provides too.
I am delighted to be part of a supportive community that actively promotes personal development and my only wish is that I had embraced this business years ago!
Can you tell us a little more about the company?

What advice would you give to those looking to join an MLM company?
According to the UK Direct Selling Association, in the UK Direct Selling is the largest provider of part time income for over 400,000 people running their own business.
I have found the following four questions are the most important to ask when considering aligning with a network marketing company:
Q1: How long has the company been establish and has it fully globalised?
Q2: Do they offer high end consumable products that are used in daily life?
Q3: Can I see myself being a brand ambassador and I do I understand how the efforts based business works?
Q4: Does the company sit with your own ethos and where do you see yourself in 5 years?
According to the Arbonne website, an Independent Consultant can expect average earnings of anything between £519 p/a right up to £170,185 for National Vice Presidents. Go to earnings.arbonne.com
Morag always recommends a 30 minute 1-2-1 online or in person meeting to see if the business may be a fit for you or not, just know what you are saying ‘Yes’ or ‘No’ to is smart. This is a great way to network and explain your own line of business and see if Morag may be able to refer business to you as well.
