The beauty industry was given the green light to re-open on the 22nd of July 2020 by the Scottish government, but sadly this did not mean the return of all the treatments we know and love. The current guidelines state that the removal of a client’s mask is prohibited in Scotland and as a result, many close contact workers’ services are restricted whilst mobile workers are still unable to offer any at all. The devastating impact caused by the restrictions imposed on the beauty sector has affected people all over the country.
What does this mean for the beauty industry?
Makeup artists cannot perform makeup miracles on brides to be, beauticians cannot carry out selfcare treatments on those who need it the most and mobile beauticians cannot operate their feel good on the go services entirely. Industry professionals can no longer complete their highest revenue treatments whilst some are not able to receive any income at all with no suggested date from the Scottish Government when they can restart. Thousand’s of beauty workers who we rely on for a pick-me-up are feeling scared and anxious from single mothers to partners facing redundancy as Furlough comes to an end, it is now time for us to return the favour.
The value of the beauty industry
The beauty industry is at the heart of the UK’s economy which is reflected every year in the tens of billions it contributes annually. According to The British Beauty Council, one in every sixty jobs in the UK is within beauty. It creates one of the largest economy outputs and provides countless jobs which needs to be recognised. We cannot sit back and watch an industry which does so much get so little in return.
We are on a mission to raise awareness of the importance of beauty to the Scottish Government to remove restrictive close contact guidelines and match those within England to permit the removal of client’s masks. This will allow all beauty professionals to practice their passions and offer their entire
range of expertise which they rely on for income once again.
The Health and Safety of clients within the industry has always been a priority and upheld to a
professional standard that will remain as we navigate through the Covid-19 pandemic.
To prevent further hardship and additional financial suffering lets change the future of beauty today.
We want fairness. We want facials. We want financial stability.
