BeautyBooker Welcomes Its Easter Student Placements

Join us by giving a big BeautyBooker welcome to Jessica and Ellidh

Jessica & Ellidh will join BeautyBooker from Robert Gorden University for their 4 week work placement this April.

My name is Jessica. I am a postgraduate student at the Robert Gordon University Aberdeen, studying Master of Science corporate communications and public affairs.

I chose to do my placement at Beauty Booker limited because I loved the inspiration behind the app. I also want to learn more about the beauty industry. To me the app is a great way to make life easy and convenient when it comes to hair and beauty.

I have interest in blogging and content creation, so I am glad for the opportunity to work with the content management team of Beauty Booker. Looking forward to learning more about the hair and beauty industry and also make interesting and engaging content for users.

This placement will be a contributing experience to my interest of being a content strategist.

My name is Ellidh, and I am studying MSc Journalism at RGU. I am so excited to start my 4-week placement here at BeautyBooker and learn more about the industry, as well as what it is like to work for this type of company. Before starting my Masters I completed an undergrad degree in History at Dundee University. While this was really interesting, I knew it was unlikely it would lead to a job so when I finished, I thought I would put my writing skills to good use and give Journalism a go.

This year has been really different as the course has primarily been online, however, I have still really enjoyed it and have learnt so much and am keen to continue learning. The practical parts of the course have been difficult, but all my fellow students and the university staff have worked together to make it as close to normal as possible. I would love to work in radio one day and hope I can gain some experience in this while helping Kirstin on the BeautyBooker podcast (our first episode together is already out!).

I spend any spare time I have exploring new places with my golden Labrador, Albi, and reading. I have also recently started running which I enjoy, even though I never expected to. I have always loved beauty and learning new tips and tricks. When I was in school I struggled a lot with acne, and still do sometimes. Because of this I started watching YouTube tutorials to try to figure out how to conceal my spots. At the moment I love using the Paula’s Choice BHA liquid exfoliant to smooth out my skin as well as the Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation to cover up any blemishes.

One thing I have learned though is that keeping my skin hydrated is super important, so I use hyaluronic acid and make sure to moisturise and use SPF. Recently I have been really into haircare as well. Until last year I was bleaching my naturally brown hair every few months. It was in terrible condition even after I went back to my natural colour. Throughout lockdown I have tried countless products and now it is actually looking better than ever! I could not have achieved this without using Olaplex No. 3, 6 and 7. They are quite pricey but really worth it if your hair is damaged.

Welcome to BeautyBooker Jessica and Ellidh, we hope you enjoy your placement with us and we are incredibly lucky to have you!
